Iso Iec 17025

The ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization, and this organization establishes the limits of international business, which includes testing laboratories. This is a non-governmental organization, comprising of 50,000 experts from 149 countries of the globe, who establish the industry standards.
The IEC stands for International Electrotechnical Commission, which aims to improve world trade by following the newest technology. The IEC works with the ISO to set standards for global businesses, which also includes the ISO/IEC 17025.
The ISO/IEC 17025, or ISO 17025 consists of a set of set standards, which the laboratories use for calibration and testing. In conjunction to the Forensic Quality Services standards, this set of standards is laid down for DNA labs.
The ISO analyses what standards are required of businesses by the society and government, then partners with the sectors that will put these to use. These standards are adopted through transparent procedures, which are based on national input, and see to it that these get delivered and implemented globally.
The ISO/IEC 17025 specifies the areas that need to be fulfilled in order to carry out calibrations and tests. This includes sampling. All the standard, non-standard and laboratory-developed methods of testing are taken into consideration here.
In the case of a DNA testing lab, the ISO/IEC 17025 implies that the lab complies with international standards, and high quality will be ensured. The lab will be producing reliable reports, and this will be done by efficient staff, complying with international standards.
