Probability Of Paternity Index

All the PIs or paternity indexes are to be multiplied to calculate the CPI or Combined Parentage Index. A CPI value of at least a 100 means that, the alleged father is really, the child’s father. This 100 value stands for the fact that the probability of paternity is 99.0000%. a 10,000 CPI value implies that the probability of paternity is 99.990%, and so on and so forth.
There could be many mismatches, but it takes only two or three mismatches to exclude the alleged father to be the biological father. Even if there are three matches, it does not necessarily imply that there is a paternity relationship. Any two people can easily have quite a few matches. In case of a father-child, there will be matches at all locations.
The guidelines of DNA paternity accreditation demand that there be a CPI value of more than a 100, and the probability of paternity should be greater than 99.0%. AN accredited paternity test report is required by most child support agencies, courts and other legal entities, while in the case of an immigration, the required CPI value is needed at least a 200 (99.5%), or more.
